The grid is composed of three pillars

The grid is composed of three pillars (four for the 125cc and 250cc classes), and contains around 20 riders. Starting positions are, in descending order of qualifying speed, the fastest decided on the "whip" or the first position. Racing takes about 45 minutes, each race a sprint from start to finish without pitting for fuel and tires.

In 2005, a flag-to-flag rule for MotoGP was introduced. Previously, if a race started dry and rain fell, riders or officials could red-flag (stop) the race and either start new or continue to "wet" tires. Well, if rain falls a white flag is displayed, indicating that can attract riders when they started the race for an identical, while the tires are different swaps (ie, intermediate or wet tires instead of slicks instead of law) .

Apart from the various bands that have wet weather bike steel rotors and pads instead of the different carbon discs and pads in the "dry" cycle used. This is because the carbon brakes have to be very hot to work properly, and cools the water too much. Therefore, the conventional steel brakes. The suspension is also called "soft" to something for the wet weather.
